Congratulations!
Your child’s Baptism will be a time for great joy and celebration for you, your family, and our Five Towns Parishes Community. Our hope is that your child will grow with us in faith and love. Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation, the beginning of a lifelong journey as disciples of Jesus.

GODPARENTS
As you prepare for your child’s Baptism, remember that godparents hold a sacred and joyful role. They are entrusted not only with supporting your child’s journey of faith, but also with encouraging you — the parents — as you nurture your child in the love of Christ. Godparents represent the wider Catholic Christian community, standing as witnesses to the grace of Baptism and the life of the Church.
Guidelines for Choosing Godparents:
- Ideally, both godparents should be Roman Catholic. However, at least one must be Roman Catholic.
- You may choose one or two godparents. If there are two, one must be male and the other female.
- A godparent cannot be a parent of the child.
- Each godparent must be at least 16 years old and fully initiated into the Catholic Church, (having received Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation).
- If one godparent is not Roman Catholic, they must be a baptized Christian from another denomination and will be recorded as a Christian witness.
- A completed godparent (sponsor) form must be submitted to the Rectory at least one week prior to the Baptism.
Please note: If these guidelines are not met, the Baptism may need to be rescheduled.
